Senior community activities/art program
Very few things make you feel as good as laughter. Our Life Enrichment coordinators put together regular outings, events and service projects to fill your social calendar and create lasting memories. Trips include movies, lunches, shopping excursions, concerts and museums, while back at St. Anne's Mead, you can help with community service projects, join the resident choir, take in a musical presentation or play a variety of games.
Our art educator, Malgorzata (Margaret) Wielbut, Registered Art Therapist and Gerontology Specialist, recently joined the Life Enrichment team. She holds a Master's Degree in Art Therapy from Wayne State University. Margaret's principles that strive to improve the quality of life for a person suffering from dementia assimilate with the programming of Life Enrichment. Margaret defines art therapy in her literature as "a mental health profession that uses the creative process of art making to improve and enhance the physical, mental, and emotional well-being of individuals of all ages". Margaret's portfolio of work includes art created by residents or artwork inspired directly from residents to the artist. Her art therapy sessions touch all residents from total independence to advanced stages of dementia.
We want you to be as involved as you want to be in our senior activities. You can even join our Resident Council for Assisted Living, which makes suggestions for programming, activities, clubs, menus, decorating and much more.
