About Us

Photo of our Director, Rick Mehrer, with other key members of the St. Anne's Mead StaffSt. Anne's Mead Retirement Home was founded in 1966 by the Episcopal diocese of Michigan with the assistance of a group of local Episcopal churches. Although owned by the Episcopal Diocese of Michigan, we warmly welcome residents from a variety of faith traditions.

St. Anne's Mead is licensed under the State of Michigan Department of Consumer & Industry Services as a "Home for the Aged" and "Nursing Home."

The word "Mead" comes from an old English word meaning meadow. This name was chosen because the property reminded the founders of a countryside meadow with rolling grassland and flowers. This image continues today with the courtyards, rose gardens and fountain areas. The wooded acres are populated with numerous mature shade trees ... a serene place in the midst of a populated area.

St. Anne's Mead offers a conveniently located home, designed to meet the individual needs of older adults who desire temporary services such as Respite Care or Hospice Care, as well as those wanting residence in our Independent Living, Assisted Living, or Nursing Care areas.

St. Anne's Mead is centrally located close to Beaumont and Providence Hospitals, the I-696 expressway, and numerous churches, shops, and restaurants. We are approximately five minutes from Birmingham, Royal Oak, Berkley and Beverly Hills.

Since 1966, we have continuously provided outstanding care in the gracious St. Anne's Mead tradition.
